The Kansara Community: Ancient Bronze Legacy

Bronze, brass, and copper utensils, luxury dinnerware, and servingware. A legacy of traditional craftsmanship handcrafted across six generations.

The Kansara community, one of India's ancient artisan groups, traces its roots to mythological times under the blessings of Lord Vishwakarma, the divine craftsman who shaped legendary cities like Hastinapur and Dwarka.

According to legend, Kartavirya, a ruler blessed with a thousand arms, and his four talented sons were the first to craft exquisite bronze items, including the mythic bronze mirror "Aranmula Kannadi," symbolizing the community's artistic legacy and divine favor.

Over centuries, the Kansara trade flourished, spreading across India and evolving into several regional identities such as Kansara in Gujarat and Rajasthan, Tambat in Maharashtra, and Thathera in Punjab, whose brass craftsmanship is UNESCO-recognized.

Rooteddeeply in tradition, the Kansara community's craft represents a rich blend of mythology, art, and cultural heritage that has withstood the test of time, continuing to celebrate and preserve India's ancient bronze-working legacy.
